Does EXHAUST system play vital role?

hi guyz,
therez 1 thing 1 wana ask y does cars consumption increses after installing muffler coz muffler provides less air resistance. m i rite?
other thing is that if i use only one exhaust pipe frm engine to muffler in suzuki alto 1000cc will it affect the car or engine?mechanic told me that after doin this my car willbecome fast as well as her muffler sound will also increse.plzZz inform me wid ur suggetions. thanxXx

yes, bro a straight through muffler can increase the power around 5-10kw max but it will also increase the fuel consumption due to less back pressure.

the fuel consumption will be more evident specially if you are used to drive the car in high revs.

Always rememebr more power=more fuel consumption.
