Please suggest grade and brand of auto transmission oil for my 660cc Japanese alto. It has done 47000 kms and seems to be due for an oil change.

Transmission fluid and gear oil are 2 different types of fluids.

If your car is manual... It uses gear in for the transmission and brake fluid for master/slave cylinder.

If the car automatic... it uses just plain transmission
fluid.

I don't know which brands are available... but one of the best transmission fluids is Mobil 1 Synthetic. It's expensive but Good. Good for extreme hot weather.
