CVT 6 position

just was going thru pages and came across this

Continuously Variable Transmission
6 position (CVT)

what does this 6 position mean, is it 5 farward 1 reverse gear or what, im talking abt honda city new one, never had first hand experiace with it, is it a 5 speed farward automatic or what, civic is 4 farward sutomatic i know tht,
secondly how responnsive is this city automatic thingi, is it as responsive as honda promatatic, i mean the gear shiftings with accelator padle variations etc

First of all there is no distinct gear at any time.in other words no upshifts and downshift.CVT works on a different machanizm.see older articles on cvt.and i think 6 postion mean p(parking),R(reverse),N(neutral),D(drive),S(sports ..only in city), ect.....and about acceleration of vario i dont know.
