AASALAM O ALAIKUM friends. We all know that timing advance processors (TAP) and EMULATORS are a must for CNG installation in EFI cars and CNG doesnt work at its utmost performance in these cars without them.(though cng can be installed even without these devices in them). The question bugging me is this that what effect do these devices have in carburetor cars? First of all, can TAP and emulator be installed in a carb car? Would this be of any benefit in terms of performance and economy? Or installing them in a carb car would just be a moarnig over the grave of another 10000rupees?
I would be glad if any of u guys can explain me this issue in the light of the basic mechanism of these devices.

TAP is needed for any car on CNG....!

Emulator is need on cars which uses ECU to manage fuel system or u can say EFi cars....! Emulator fouls ECU while on CNG that fuel system is working all right as its not on CNG...!

Well...TAP(Timing Advance Processors) for Carb cars also exisit but here mostly ppl advances it manually from distributor......!
In modern cars running without distributor...its must to install TAP....as there is no mechanical advance of timing on CNG....!
well TAP do help in low rpms and back firing.....also knocking on petrol won't occur as TAP returns back timing when on Petrol.....! as in mechanical..u have to do it or engine knocks on petrol....!
well performance is surely increased if u got correct one and installed correctly...economy might also be increased but can't say minimum or maximum difference u fell after spending on it.....!
Here no one uses TAP on carb cars except some FF cars i think......!
