The 3rd Generation Toyota Prado, also known as the Toyota 4Runner in some markets, was launched in 2002 as a front-engine four-wheel-drive SUV. This generation showcased a completely new design language compared to its predecessor, and the suspension was improved to enhance handling, reliability, and ride quality. The Toyota Prado 3rd Generation comes in two versions, TX and TZ, and two body styles, 3-door and 5-door. Production of the 3rd Generation Toyota Prado spanned eight years, and it was available to purchase between 2002 and 2009. However, the price of this model was not competitive when compared to other vehicles in the same class.

Exterior

The exterior of the 3rd Generation Toyota Prado boasts a completely new design language compared to the previous generation. The front end is home to trapezium-styled upswept headlights, a rectangular chrome grille, a rectangular air intake, and standard rectangular fog lights. The rear end features trapezium-styled stacked taillights, a spare wheel, and a large rear bumper. The 5-door Toyota Prado shares identical styling with the 3-door version, except that it is slightly longer to accommodate the rear doors. The overall exterior design of the 3rd Generation Toyota Prado is more subdued and less muscular than the 2nd Generation Toyota Prado.

Interior

The interior of the 3rd Generation Toyota Prado features black and silver polished trim pieces. The three rows of seats are covered in fabric. Standard features on the TX variant include climate control, power steering, power lock doors, traction control, stereo speaker system, dual front airbags, a tachometer, front heated electric seats, and a trip computer. On the other hand, the higher-end TZ variant comes with DVD input on the stereo speaker audio system, a sunroof as standard, and leather upholstery as standard. Optional features include satellite navigation, a sunroof, leather upholstery, automatic 3-zone climate control, and a rear-seat entertainment system. The overall interior of the 3rd Generation Toyota Prado offers plenty of space for both the front and rear passengers and provides a good level of comfort and interior refinement
