23% Rise in Locally Assembled Cars Shipments Despite of Incr

The locally assembled car of Pakistan in FY2018 has been increased by 23% YoY to 339,465 units, which is attributable to growth in the sales of cars.
The sale of Pakistani autos including LCVs, vans and jeeps rose by 21% YoY with the growth noticed in all segments. The total sale of the car has gone up by 21 percent in last fiscal year with 216,786 units sold, which can be compared to 185,781 units in the last financial year.

Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association PAMA has released the latest numbers for June 2018 and it is suggested that during last month, total car sales was clocked in 18,518 units, which is declining to 15% during the holy month of Ramadan and also restrictions on the non filers of the income tax returns.



The auto sales during Ramadan were remained impressive before the implication of new law that stopped the non filers to buy the new cars and it was implemented from 01 July 2018. All auto manufacturers stopped the booking of cars by the people in May since companies take minimum three months to provide the vehicle. The record the sales after booking of the car.

Honda has shown the highest growth rate and clock at the 31% YoY to total of 51,494 units. The growth of the vehicles is attributable to 302% increase in BR-Vs sold because of the low base of BR-V units in FY17 and the sale of the said SUV was started in 4th quarter of FY17. Pak Suzuki Motor Company got the strong growth of 26% by selling 144,070 units. On the monthly basis, the auto makers like WagonR, Bolan, Ravi, Mehran and Swift sales are remained positive. Toyota has the major part of rural customers and they are mainly non filers of the tax return and they got the biggest of 23% in the sales.

The sales of tractors showed the sharp fall of 12% YoY and the customers bulked up the purchasing right after the announcement of the budget and it shows the imposition of law stopping the non filers from the buying of tractors and also the kharif season is also coming to its end.
