Car Companies Faced A Decline In Car Sales Except Hyundai

The Automotive industry in Pakistan posted a satisfactory performance regarding the car sales until April 2021. The sales of cars were increasing gradually. But with arrival of Ramadan, the car demand decreased and car companies face a decline in car sales except Hyundai. The Pakistan Motors Association PAMA compiled a report which shows that car sales ped in April. Here only Month on Month car sales comparison is made because last year there was no sale of cars due to covid-19 epidemic and peoples were limited to houses due to lockdowns.

Month on Month Cars Sales In April 2021

According to PAMA, the total 17, 144 units were sold in the auto industry of Pakistan during April 2021 which is comparatively 17% less than that of total cars sold in March 2021.

Pak Suzuki Motors reported a decrease in car sales to 8,606 units in April 2021 against 10,161 units in March 2021 which is a decline of 15%.
Toyota Indus Motors has reported 20% loss on the sales of 5,355 units in April 2021 as compared to 6,695 units sold in March 2021.

Honda Atlas has a biggest loss of 27% with a sale of 2,287 units in April 2021 only as compared to sales of 3,153 units in March 2021.

Kia Motors faced a loss of 16% in car sales on a month-on-month basis.
Among all above auto companies, the Hyundai Nishat posted an increase of 24% in sales of its units in the month of April just because of Hyundai Elantra.

Passenger Cars Sales In April 2021

Except Hyundai Elantra all passengers’ cars sales declined in April 2021. Toyota sold 2,600 units of Yaris and 1,724 units of Corolla in April 2021. The numbers are 22% and 19% lower than March. Honda sold 2,053 units of City and Civic in April, 21% down from 2,603 units sold in March. Suzuki also lost sales of all its cars with 181 units of Swift, 1,312 units of Cultus, 747 units of Bolan, and 4,091 units of Alto sold in April. Surprisingly, Wagon R’s sales increased by 20% in April 2021.

SUVs and Jeeps

As for the SUVs, Hyundai Tucson faced adecline in its sales but still scored better than Toyota Fortuner with 503 sales in April 2021. The Fortuner sales number stood at 364, while Honda BR-V came last with only 234 units sold in April.

2/3-Wheelers

Overall, 149,368 two-wheelers and three-wheelers were sold in April 2021, against 170,350 units sold in March 2021. That means a of 12%.
