Comparison BETWEEN TOYOTA RUSH AND HONDA BR-V

As you all might know about the new upcoming Toyota rush in Pakistan, our resources have confirmed that the Toyota rush will be launched again in Pakistan in the next few months. Whereas the Toyota has also launched the 1st gen Toyota rush in Pakistan as well. As it wasn t a great seller, s for that reason he Toyota company decided to discontinue it, this time the 2nd generation is about to launch the different features are that it is more spacious, luxurious and eye catching. The main question is that will Toyota rush settle in competition with the entry level SUV seven seater which is happen to be Honda br-v, this comparison is based on facts that rush has been internationally launched as br-v competitor.



DESIGN

As we all know about the design of the br-v so I will not go in detail, as br-v has a decent design and also has a rugged go off road and this seems to be the huge selling point for this car, on the other side, the new Toyota rush is also the same, and the Toyota company has done a great job that they made it in such a way to look like it can go off road and that’s actually true, we will talk about that later, as you all can see that the new rush has a muscular look, I credit Honda more that the made the br-v like a SUV instead of MPV. But here Toyota takes the lead because the new rush looks more SUV as compared to br-v.
At 220mm the new rush has more ground clearance as compared to its competitor that has only 201mm, so the new rush is taller as well. Whereas in length and width the rush is close to the br-v but only to a small margin, Toyota rush measures as 4435×1695×1705 mm whereas the Honda br-v measures as 4456× 1735×1666. Wheelbase of Honda br-v and rush is 2662 mm and 2685 mm. ×



INTERIOR, PRACTICALITY AND SPACE

As Toyota rush is a CBU unit so it is more likely that it will have more better build interior as compared to the locally assembled br-v. this doesn’t t means that the br-v has a bad interior but the quality of locally assembled cars isn t very good when compared to their imported counterparts. Besides that, since both the cars share almost similar dimensions so interior space will also be the same.

ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND FUEL ECONOMY

Engine is the most important thing of these vehicles since most of the people who buy entry level SUV’s wants to have a bit of grunt, but the cars br-v and rush have 1500cc enginesthe 1.5l in the br-v produces 118 bhp and 145 nm of torque at 4600 whie on the other side, the 1.5l produces 102 bhp and 136 nm of torque at 4200 rpm which is a bit lesser than the br-v, this makes the br-v a bit more stronger as compared to rush, but there isn t a huge difference. Honda br-v comes with the option of either a 6 sped manual o r a cvt transmission whereas Toyota rush comes with option either 4 speed o r 5 speed manual.
He thing to be noted is that the br-v was marketed as an off road SUV by Honda atlas but internationally it was marketed as a family MPV. The interesting thing to see is that how the IMC will now position the new rush, where the br-v only comes with the rear wheel drive option, whereas the rush is available in both options drive with front o r rear wheel.

• 1.5L i-VTEC S CVT PKR 2,349,000
The price of rush has not been announced yet, and it is no secret that Honda has already gained a significant market of MPV’s in Pakistan so in order to get a chunk out of it, the IMC has to set the price right, if Toyota somehow manages to set the price similar to br-v then its more likely that the people will get attracted toward it especially those who are looking for MPV’s with a Toyota badge on it. Internationally the price of rush stats around from $15000 for the base model.

VERDICT

No doubt the new Toyota rush is a very competitive car and is welcome to our market. Toyota rush has very decent off roading capabilities it also looks nice and has great features. If Toyota manages to set the price right then surely it will take a huge chunk out of Honda br-v sales, but rumors also suggest that Toyota might price it high as 35, 00,000 considering it as CBU, compare the current price f br-v and popularity, IMC will have an uphill battle.
