First Ever Pickup Truck by Mercedes Benz

Mercedes Benz introduced the Mercedes Benz Concept in October 2016 which showed its plans to enter the market of pickup truck. It looks similar to a pickup truck but also contain several characteristics of Mercedes like the 3-pointed star logo, wide headlights and a large grill up front.

Now in July 2017, the X class is shown in full glory by Mercedes. Below in this post, we will show features of this X class pickup truck from Mercedes.
Exterior
You will see very little difference in the design and shape of the X Class Concept as that of the currently available pickup trucks like Toyota Hilux o r Nissan Navara. The platform of the said truck is quite similar to Nissan Navara but there are few changes in Mercedes as it includes few differences in exterior design.

It has several similarities with the previous design of 2016 and the vehicle include all the Mercedes trademark design elements like huge Mercedes logo, typical Mercedes headlights and grill up front. But there is difference in the concept of exterior lights as there are two separate lights on the back instead of a single LED strip which doesn’t look impressive but it is cost effective and makes it easier to repair.

The length of this X Class 3150 mm is between that of the larger Nissan Navara 3198 mm and shorter Toyota Hilux 3085 mm. 1100 kg is the payload of the X Class while its pulling capacity is 3500 kg. The departure angels and approach of the truck are 23.8 and 28.8 respectively.
All in all we can say that this latest truck is a beautiful blend of style and toughness. You can easily tell from a distance that Mercedes owns this pickup truck. This truck gets a strong on-road presence due to these qualities.
Interior
There are few exterior features of X Class similar to Navara but it is completely Mercedes from interior. It means that it provides the same type of quality and comfort available in any vehicle of Mercedes. Typical to Mercedes, the instrument panel has inside curve trim element while there is a 8.4” screen in the COMMAND Online multimedia system in the car. It is not only sharp but also visible at any angle due to high contrast IPS technology and resolution of 960 x 540 pixels.

The instrument cluster is also similar to that of a Mercedes Benz as it features include large, analogue round dials. Between the round dials, there is a color multimedia display of 5.4”. The screen navigation is done via the buttons on the 3-spoke steering wheels. Like several other passenger cars of the company, this X Class also includes a multi function touch pad in the center console.

Engine & Transmission
There are 2 engine options in the X Class but you will get a single engine with two power options in mid 2018. There is a high-torque common rail diesel drive system with displacement of 2300cc engine which is officially available in X Class. It has two power outputs with the X 250d bi-turbo generates 190hp while the 2.31 engine produces 163hp. Both these variants will be available with rear wheel and engageable all-wheel drive with either right o r left hand drive vehicles. The engines will be of six-speed manual transmission but there will be seven-speed automatic transmission with the X 250d. An X 350d V6 diesel engine will be available in mid-2018 that will generate 258hp and 550Nm torque.
Variants
The X Class will be available in the variants of the X Class Pure, the X Class Progressive and the X Class Power. The X Class Pure is the basic version that provides all the functions along with comfort of Mercedes. If you want additional comfort and styling along with usefulness then the X Class Progressive is for you. The styling, comfort and performance are available at their peak in the X Class Power version.

Pricing & Availability
Pricing of the X Class starts with 37,000 euro Rs. 44,80,000 while it will initially be available in Europe, South America and Africa. Its availability in Pakistan is not known yet.
