Honda City vs Suzuki Ciaz Battle of Urban Sedans

Pak Suzuki has made the decision to introduce the sedan car after many years as the sedan segment were absent from market in Pakistan.
The previous launched vehicle, Suzuki Kizashi and after that Suzuki Liana and both the vehicles have many problems and they were held back and these vehicles were not popular among the masses. Suzuki Kizashi was found very expensive but it was very good with its new features and specs. When the people hear the Suzuki brand vehicles, they will have think over spending 5 million rupees to buy a car of Suzuki brand. Liana has faced many problems and Pak Suzuki managed to sell some of the units of Liana but it is popular as Suzuki Baleno was in the past.

Pak Suzuki introduced the last vehicle, Suzuki Baleno, which was undisputed vehicle and after that Suzuki Margalla was introduced in auto market. Now Pak Suzuki has launched new Suzuki Ciaz so that they can bring the glorious day of Suzuki in Pakistan. The things have also been changed when Suzuki was selling its cars. Now Pakistani auto market has been changed. Now there are some foreign threats and Suzuki is facing the homegrown competitors. Pak Suzuki did not face the certifiable direct competitor in the past and now the story is little bit different and the small sedan segment has the new ruler and it is Honda, which has got some success with the launch of Honda City in the market.
The brief comparison of the Honda City is provided as the current leader in this specific segment and Suzuki Ciaz is the new comer. The users will get the vehicle, Honda City at PKR 1,523,000 and the most expensive vehicle with fully loaded City is about PKR 1,815,000. Honda City is provided in the market in about 6 variants with two engine option including 1.3 and 1.5 liter engines and both of them have manual and auto transmission options. On the other side, Suzuki Ciaz is launched in the market in two variants including Suzuki Ciaz with manual 2017 Suzuki Ciaz is available for PKR 1,699,000 and automatic Ciaz 2017 is available at PKR 1,839,000.
Exterior:
There is one apparent observation that Honda City looks sleek that Suzuki Ciaz as this vehicle has the beefy look on its exterior side. Honda City has the sharper lines and the users will find the sharp edges and corners all around the vehicle. It looks beautiful from front headlines and front grill to the side mirror and to boot lid at back and they have the straight and sharp cuts and lines. Suzuki Ciaz has the slight round outer appearance, when you compare it with Honda City.

The lines are soft and the edges on exterior of car are rounded off and Suzuki Ciaz looks grown up if they are compared to Honda City. The vehicle has the grown up look, which is not due to design of the car and it is about the actual dimension figures of the car, Ciaz, which is longer and wider than Honda City. This car is measured at 4395 mm in length and 1695 mm in overall width. Suzuki Ciaz is measured at 4490 mm in overall length and 1730 mm in width. This vehicle has also lowered roofline by measuring at 1475 mm, when you compare it with Honda City with the height of 1480 mm.

When you consider the dimension of both the cars, you expect that Suzuki Ciaz is roomier than the vehicle, Honda City. The extra 110 mm in the Ciaz wheelbase can make its interior side longer and it improves the leg space. Suzuki Ciaz has more boot space with 510 liters when you compare it with 506 liters in Honda City. The vehicle, Honda City is available in about six variants and the clients can pick and choose most of the stuff. Suzuki Ciaz feels less loaded, when you compare it with City. Due to availability in most of the variants, it is better to get the car with better options. Suzuki is getting some backlash from the consumers because of the lack of features in Suzuki Ciaz.

This is the K14 VVT petrol engine and it is provided in the market with variable valve technology of Suzuki to improve the fuel economy and the better drivability. Suzuki has claimed across the world that engine can return maximum 20 kilometer per liter. This is another story as the new engine performs in out of the typical Pakistani driving conditions and the fuel consumptions in the real world scenario.
Honda has impressive couple of engines and it has 1.3 and 1.5 liter engines, which have proved it in Pakistan and all over the world. The 1.3 liter engine is popular for return impressive fuel mileage in the local driving and 1.3 liter engine is quick on its own and it wants more power, if the users can opt for 1.5 liter motor to make it 120 BHP.
The new Suzuki Ciaz has five speed manual transmission o r four speed automatic. The vehicle, Honda City is provided with 5 speed manual in 1.3 and 1.5 liter City and 5-speed automatic transmission prosmetec transmission for Honda city Aspire model having 1.3 and 1.5 liter. The car has 4-speed auto in Ciaz, which can be major turn off for many buyers. The price of the 4-speed auto Ciaz is Rs.1,839,000/- and Honda City Aspire Prosmetec 1.5 i-VTEC has the price of Rs.1,815,000/-.
Final Thoughts:
Suzuki Ciaz is more expensive and is also less equipped with features and specs. The new car is exported from Thailand and the brand new imported units are pricier than the vehicle, which is being manufactured domestically. Pak Suzuki does not assemble the car for some reasons and they prefer to import the build units.
Honda Pakistan sold over hundred thousand units of current generation Honda City. The brand, City sold the bigger sibling and Civic for most part of couple of years. This is the very profitable segment of small sedan and it is run by Honda for about a decade. Honda Pakistan skipped the generation, when it works of City and they continued the current generation to manage to sell the cars like hotcakes and also say about the growth potential in this segment. Suzuki brand can challenge Honda for price of this vehicle. Had the company made up their mind to assemble Ciaz domestically and did all the required preparation of the new car to get this excellent buck.
