Hyundai To Bring Crab Walk Mode For Full Car Rotation

The Hyundai Motors Corporation is going to introduce Crab Walk Mode in its vehicles which will allow the Honda Cars to rotate fully without reversing.

According to reports, the, GM Motors,  Hyundai Motors Corporation has submitted an application for a patent to United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for its four-wheel cars to offer independent steering system in them.

On 28th April 2022, an application titled “Method and System for Controlling In-Situ Rotation Mode of Four-Wheel Independent Steering Type Vehicle,” was sent department by Hyundai as per reports.
 
The new system is same like the GM’s independent wheel steering system, in which the new Hummer EV is incorporated. However, Hyundai's offer will make the Hyundai vehicles to move completely to one side or to rotate completely while remaining in the same position.

The application reveals the way of the system functionality only. It is not mentioned in the application which vehicles of Hyundai and when the new system for Hyundai Cars will be introduced. However, the auto makers will offer this advanced features in the full size luxury car belonging to flagship categories due to its utility purpose and complexity.
 
The official document further reads that the Hyundai has made an integration of new system with the Electronic Control Unit (ECU). A toggle switch is given in the gear shifter which will allow the drivers to use this feature.
 
According to analysts of auto industry, the system is very complex and there will be a need of exhaustive R&D in all stages of its development and hence will take a long time to be produced commercially on large scale. The analysts also view that the new feature will drag the attention of many new car buyers in future to think and buy the Hyundai cars with Crab Walk Mode.
