At last the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train OLMT has entered in its testing stage. A lot of obstacles occurred to OLMT and now the testing phase has been initiated and Punjab Finance department is ready to fix the fare for OLMT.

The proposal from Finance department is given to fix the fare between RS 40 to RS 50 at the start. OLMT will be the first and latest mass transit system in Pakistan. The service will provide facilities to people from March, 2020. The Orange Line track is completely finished and passing through testing phase. The testing phase will continue up to 3 months during which the different systems will be testified; training of the drivers and safety audits will be provided. The joint venture of two Chinese companies China Railway Construction Corporation Limited CRCCI and China North Industries Group Corporation Limited NORINCO, has the contract for maintenance and operations of OLMT.

However, the operations of OLMT will not be handed over to Chinese Joint Venture. The Chinese engineers are testifying the OLMT technically. The experiment is also done to run the trains on diesel fuel which will be used when there is no electricity o r at the time of emergency. The dead line was given from Supreme Court to the government of the Punjab to run the OLMT up to January 2020. OLMT was started in 2014 and its construction is in process from then. OLM will cover its complete distance in 45 minutes. Lahore Orange Line train will be passing through these stops.

The total number of trains is 27 for the whole route. Each train will have 5 bogies and space to sit will be up to 60 persons. The special seats are reserved for women, senior citizens, and special persons. According to forecasts, OLMT will facilitate up to 5, 00, 000 passengers daily.

OLMT will pass through highly populated areas of the Lahore city from where the public want to go for work o r educational institutions through a suitable transport system, the public address system will also be provided in it through the passenger will be informed about the arrival of the next train as well.



After the start of its operations, the OLMT will connect Lahore Junction Railway Station, Raiwind, Multan Road, Mcleod Road, and the Grand Trunk Road. The PTI Government has removed the subsidy given by the previous government, but hopefully, the fare will be affordable to a common passenger so that that he may be able to travel easily.
