Peugeot 2008: A Test Drive Review

Peugeot 2008, a B-segment crossover SUV launched recently in the Pakistani market. The SUV made its appearance in the start of the year 2022. The Peugeot 2008 competitors are Kia Stonic and MG ZS in the local market. The company introduced 2 variants of Peugeot 2008, Peugeot 2008 Active and the Peugeot 2008 Allure.

In this article, we are going to review the test drive of the SUV Peugeot 2008 Allure variant and will see the performance and other aspects. The Allure is installed with a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine producing 130hp and 230Nm of torque, and it’s paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. For overall test drive performance of the car we are going to review the acceleration, handling, suspension, and braking of the car. Acceleration of Peugeot 2008

The Peugeot has very impressive and outstanding power efficiency and it is 0 to 100 in 8.47 seconds making the Peugeot 2008 Allure prominent over its competitors. The car has better pick-up at the start which is due to the 230-newton meters and even the SUV pushed you back. The power to weight ratio is good so as a result 130hp doesn’t seem much, still the car instantly catches speed. The grip and handling at high speeds is often compromised due to a soft suspension, but in the case of Peugeot, the car has a good handling. The Peugeot 2008 has good driving position and can be adjusted manually; it is featured with leather seats with pretty soft cushioning, front seats grip you from the side, and overall comfort is satisfactory. The car also has a minimal cabin noise, and engine noise is well insulated. To some extent, the position of the steering wheel may be disturbing, which obstructs the speedometer vision. It can be adjusted by tilting and telescoping, but tall people can find it inconvenient and uncomfortable.

Ground Clearance

The Peugeot 2008 has a ground clearance of 174 mm, so it does not hit the ground even with five passengers and is best car for off-road tours.

Fuel Average

The company claims that as compared to its competitors the Peugeot is more fuel efficient car and gives 14 to 16 km/l within the city and 17 to 18 km/l on the highway. As the numbers for the fuel efficiency are impressive but will be depend upon the driving conditions.

Braking

The Peugeot has offered the SUV Peugeot 2008 with crucial braking alongwith the acceleration. The car is provided with ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution, which provides optimal braking performance.
