Porsche Makes a Massive Investment in Electric Car Batteries

The renowned German auto giant Porsche is set to manufacture its electric vehicles EV with efficient batteries to provide best performance. 

The company has made a huge investment of 100 million USD in a series C funding in a renowned American company Group 14 Technologies. The company manufactures the Lithium EV batteries and plans to manufacture anode materials for lithium-ion batteries on and auto maker has participated to use the Lithium-Silicon battery technology for future Prosche EVs. 



The Porsche will use its investment to built high quality EV battery cells for the Porsche Cars that will be made available at large scale for commercial use. It is said that the, battery cells may be used for a small production in high performance vehicles and small motors as well. 

According to Group 14, as compared to ordinary electric batteries for cars, the anodes will have a capacity to store additional energy up to 50% making these cells more powerful and efficient. In a partnership with Group 14, not only Porsche, but other companies are also investing up to 400 million USD. According to reports, the anodes will go for mass production by 2024. 



There are a lot of alternatives for Lithium ion in the market, despite the established supply and demand situation. The EV industry has been relying heavily on Li-ion sales for some time. In the race to reduce production costs, carmakers are aggressively seeking new solutions to make EVs more accessible and more profitable.

Porsche has launched a fully electric vehicle, Taycan already that which is known as one of the best-selling luxury EVs in the world. Like Porsche, luxury EV Racing has been an aggressive front for companies like Porsche that want a significant share of the newly formed market. The $ 100 million investment gives Porsche the opportunity to take advantage of the unrealistic potential of the new tech.
