Spotify Introduces “Car Things” For Car Owners

The Spotify, renowned audio streaming service has introduced its first hardware device called “Car Thing”. It is introduced as a limited US release. The device will provide the car owners an experience of seemless and personalized in-car listening.

Design

The Spotify Car Thing has a huge knob stuck to its display and it gives a look of a smart phone. The device comes with a big, grippable knob for navigation and four preset buttons at the top for favorite music, podcasts, o r playlists. Users can change what the buttons do.



The device weighs 3.4 oz. and measure 4.6 x 2.5 x 0.7 inches.
Neither the size of display nor information about the type of display panel used are confirmed by the company. However, it is expected to have an LCD panel.
The device has three different types of dash and vent mounts which can be used to mount Car Thing to your dashboard. It also ships with a car charger and USB-C cable.



Features

Depending on your preference, the Spotify Car Thing can be configured via Bluetooth o r an Aux o r USB cable. The user interface is very similar to the Spotify mobile app. Therefore, the learning curve probably will be less. In addition, at launch, Car Thing will take you on a quick tour, explaining how to get started.

Voice to interact with the screen can also be used. To activate the device, all you have to do is say "Hey Spotify". It allows you to listen to your requests directly from Spotify by requesting a song, album, artist, playlist, station o r podcast, the car of which "listens" to the four microphones above.
Pricing and Availability

The Spotify Car Thing has a retail price of $ 80, but the company has not yet set a timeline for when it will go on sale. For now, it's available for free via carthing.spotify.com on an invitation-only basis for Spotify premium customers in the United States.
