World Car Of The Year 2022: World Car Awards 2022

The global auto industry holds the World Car Awards at the New York International Auto Show every spring. The winning car is awarded as a result of the winning car in the Auto Show 2022.  A panel of 12 judges from 33 countries decides on the awards. Electric vehicles (EVs) are dominating the awards for the first time year. 
In the World Car Awards 2022, Hyundai Ioniq 5 stole won the three awards out of six categories. These are the category winners of the 2022 World Car Awards.

World Car of the Year 2022
The World Car of the Year 2022 goes to the flagship space age looking EV by Hyundai, the Ioniq 5. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 won by seven points and became the 2022 World Car of the Year beating the Kia EV6, and Ford Mustang Mach-e which were also the nominees of the award.
 
World Electric Car 2022
Being an EV, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 also won the World Electric Vehicle 2022  of the Year out of the 11 contenders. The Ioniq 5 beat Mercedes EQS and Audi e-tron GT in the final round and grabbed the trophy in the World Car Awards at the New York International Auto Show.

World Car Design 2022
Hyundai Ionic 5 grabbed the third award, called World Car Design 2022 of the year. The participants for this award were Audi e-tron GT and Kia EV6.

World Luxury Car 2022
The Mercedes-Benz EQS has achieved the World Luxury Car 2022 of the Year award, beating the BMW iX and Genesis GV70 in the final round in the World Car Awards at the New York International Auto Show. The car was able to get this award due to its premium and futuristic cabin. This is the fourth Luxury Car award for Mercedes-Benz. S-Class, E-Class, S-Coupe, and S-Class models have won in 2021, 2017, 2015, and 2014, respectively.

World Performance Car 2022
In the World Car Awards at the New York International Auto Show the Audi e-tron GT won the World Performance Car 2022 of the Year award, defeating the BMW M3/M4 and Toyota GR86, also known as the Subaru BRZ. The car won this award due to its sporty look.
 
World Urban Car 2022
Toyota Yaris Cross, by Toyota won the spot for World Urban Car 2022 of the year, competing against Opel Mokka and Volkswagen Taigu due to being a fuel-efficient hybrid city car,
