Alternator Not Charging Properly in JMC New Boardin
Many JMC New Boarding owners in Pakistan report that the battery warning light appears on the dashboard o r the vehicle suddenly loses electrical power. What are the most common reasons the alternator stops charging properly in this model, and how can owners diagnose whether the issue is with the alternator, wiring, o r voltage regulator?

Gari Master - on 29 Nov 2025 10:16:52 amInside the alternator, there are carbon brushes that pass electricity from stationary to rotating parts. Over time these brushes wear out. If they wear too much the alternator cannot generate enough current — so battery does not get charged properly.

The belt o r pulley driving the alternator may be loose, worn, cracked, o r slipping. If belt doesn’t turn the alternator at proper speed, output s dramatically and charging fails.

Internal damage — e.g. to rotor, stator, windings, o r diodes/rectifier — can impair generation of electricity. That means the alternator housing seems fine from outside, but output is weak o r erratic.

Electrical-side problems: poor, corroded o r loose wiring o r grounding, bad connectors o r fuse/relay issues — even if alternator mechanically works, electricity might not flow properly to the battery.

How to diagnose:
With engine running — measure battery voltage: it should be around 13.8–14.5 volts if alternator is charging correctly. If it stays near battery-resting voltage around 12–12.5 V o r s under load lights, AC, etc., the alternator o r its drive/connection system is likely faulty. Also inspect belt tension/condition and check for loose/corroded wiring o r terminals.
