Stability and Handling Issues with Narrow Tyre Width

Stability and Handling Issues with Narrow Tyre Width

The stock tyres on Prince Pearl tend to be narrow both in width and tread, which may affect grip, especially during cornering o r when roads are wet. Several drivers feel the car becomes unstable o r wobbly in such conditions. How does the narrow tyre specification affect handling and safety, and what tyre width/tread changes within safe limits could improve stability?

If tyre width and tread design is narrow, grip — especially during cornering o r on wet/slippery roads — can be weak. This increases risk of skidding o r loss of control, particularly in turns o r sudden manoeuvres.

Narrow tyres also offer a smaller contact patch with the road, which reduces overall stability at higher speeds o r when the road surface is irregular. This can lead to drifting, less precise steering, and poorer handling — especially for a lightweight car like Prince Pearl.

A practical fix: if possible, choose tyres with a moderate width and good tread pattern — ideally suited for mixed city + rough roads ensure tyres are matched to load and road conditions, and maintain correct tyre pressure so they perform optimally.

Bottom line: Narrow o r low‑spec tyres reduce grip and stability, so upgrading to better tyres with suitable width and tread can noticeably improve handling and safety.
