The 2nd Generation Toyota IST was launched in 2007 as a subcompact hatchback that offers practicality and fuel economy. It shares a platform with the 1st Generation Toyota Platz sedan and is based on the 2nd Generation Toyota Vitz hatchback. The Toyota IST 2007 was developed to meet the growing demand for mid-size SUVs with better fuel economy.

Exterior

The exterior design of the 2007 Toyota IST is minimalistic and restrained. It has sharp and sleek narrow side swept headlights, an angular chrome grille, and a rectangular air intake. The rear end features angular side swept taillights and a standard case hatchback. All five variants of the Toyota IST have identical styling in every aspect.

Interior

The interior of the 2007 Toyota IST has black plastic trim pieces and fabric-covered front and rear seats. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows, power steering, power lock doors, power mirrors, a stereo speaker system, a trip computer, and a tachometer. The 150 X and 180 G variants have automatic climate control and satellite navigation, while the 180 G also has leather upholstery. The overall interior of the Toyota IST offers a good amount of interior space for a subcompact hatchback.

Performance

The Toyota IST 2007 has two engine options: a 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve inline-4 and a 1.8-liter DOHC 16-valve inline-4. The 1.5-liter engine generates 103bhp at 6000RPM, while the 1.8-liter engine generates 132bhp at 6000RPM. The car is available with either a 4-speed automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual transmission.

Mileage

The Toyota IST 2007 has an average fuel economy of up to 15KM/L, which gives it an estimated driving range of up to 675KM from its 45-liter fuel tank.

Competitors

The main competitors of the Toyota IST 2nd Generation are the Suzuki APV, Nissan March, and Honda Fit. Despite the competition, the Toyota IST 2007 has a fairly competitive price compared to other cars in its class.
