The model was in production for seven years and available for purchase between 1996 and 2002. Exterior

The exterior of the 2nd Generation Toyota Prado features a new design language. The front fascia comprises side-swept rectangular-styled headlights, a rectangular chrome grille, and a large rear bumper. The rear end features stacked tail lights and a rear-hinged door. With its large exterior dimensions and imposing muscular stance, the overall exterior of the 2nd Generation Toyota Prado is distinctive. All variants feature identical styling in every aspect, and options include front and rear nudge bars and roof rails.

Interior

The 2nd Generation Toyota Prado has a 7-seater layout arranged among 3 rows. The interior is designed with dark gray plastic trim pieces, and the 3-rows of seats are covered in fabric. Standard equipment on the TX variant includes power steering, cup holders, power windows, air conditioning, a stereo speaker system, and a tachometer. Features on the higher-end TX and RZ variants include leather upholstery as standard and a sunroof. Options include leather upholstery, climate control, an electric sunroof, electric power mirrors, and electric front heated seats. While the interior of the 2nd Generation Toyota Prado offers a good amount of space in both the front and rear for an SUV of its exterior dimensions, it offers a below-par level of comfort due to an uncomfortable ride and an extensive level of vibrations throughout the interior whether the car is in motion or stationary.
