Installation of New EV Charging Stations at Motorways

Various auto manufacturing companies are busy in developing the new electric cars and vehicles. Being fuel efficient and most economical, these electric cars are getting popular and huge number of car enthusiasts like to buy these EVs. In order to encourage the people and facilitate them in providing the EV charging stations to the owners of the electric cars, various new EV charging stations are installed on the motorways. The government is going to make the plan for the Installation of New EV Charging Stations at Motorways and highways all over the country.

The locations of the charging stations are provided to the customers, which are:

• Rashakai Service Area (Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway, M-1)
• Tandliyanwala Service Area (Lahore-Islamabad Motorway, M-3)
• Dandewal Service Area (Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad, Khanewal Motorway, M-4)
• Khanewal Service Area (Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad, Khanewal Motorway, M-4)
• Hazara Service Area (Hassanabdal-Havelian Expressway E-35)

Before this, the government has already established an EV charging station at Bhera Service Area and you can also find other fuel stations on the highway network, with the EV charging stations to catalyze the EV normalization all over the country. 

The researchers at LUMS have highlighted in the report regarding the challenges of the adoption of the EV and stated the opportunities, which are:

To reduce ‘range-anxiety’ in the adoption of contemporary electric cars in Pakistan, there are 85 places across M-1, M-2, M-3, M-4, M-5, M-9, and N-5, which are suitable for to build DC-fast charging infrastructure for the Electric Vehicles.

It is worth mentioning that Pakistan will cut the greenhouse gas emission by 20% by 2030 and this initiative is signatory to Paris Climate Agreement. The government is promoting the adoption of EVs but people are still hesitating as these EVs are costly and there is lack of charging infrastructure in the big cities.
