This move aims to significantly strengthen the existing emission control Punjab efforts by expanding the reach of emissions testing beyond urban areas.

The new initiative, spearheaded by the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department, involves the installation of Emissions Testing System (ETS) booths at strategic motorway locations. These booths will offer real-time vehicle emission check facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations as part of a growing motorway emission program.

Currently, ETS booths are functioning at 20 key sites across Lahore, including Liberty Market, Emporium Mall, Model Town Park, Jallo Park, and CBD Kalma Chowk. These centers operate from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, with a lunch and prayer break between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM. The government’s decision to expand to highways and motorways addresses the increasing demand for motorway vehicle inspection and motorway pollution check services for long-distance travelers.

This latest Punjab eco initiative is expected to play a crucial role in reducing motorway traffic emissions and promoting Punjab clean air standards across the province. By integrating car emission testing along the motorway network, the initiative aligns closely with updated Punjab transport rules that focus on sustainability and public health.

Citizens are urged to utilize the nearest ETS booth for a vehicle pollution test, with information and locations available through the Green Punjab mobile app or by calling the helpline at 1373.
