Suzuki to Launch All Electric Jimny in 2024

Suzuki recently held a briefing where they unveiled their ambitious carbon-neutrality plan and a glimpse into some of their upcoming products. One of the most exciting prospects that the automaker presented was the fully-electric Suzuki Jimny. The company plans to launch the electric Jimny in Europe next year as part of their plan to introduce a total of five Battery-Electric Vehicles (BEVs) in the region. Suzuki is focusing on increasing their electric cars in upcoming years.

The current generation of the Suzuki Jimny is available with two engine options - a 660cc, three-cylinder turbocharged engine, and a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder unit. The former engine option, which produces 64 horsepower and 105 Newton meters of torque, is available only in Japan, while the latter engine option, which makes 101 horsepower and 130 Newton meters of torque, is available globally. However, with the launch of the fully-electric Jimny, Suzuki aims to cater to the growing demand for EVs, especially in the European market.

The company's efforts are not limited to the European market, as they also plan to launch their respective sets of EVs in Japan and India in 2023 and 2024. Additionally, Suzuki is also considering electric bikes and boat engines as part of their carbon-neutrality plan.

Suzuki's carbon-neutrality plan is not limited to EVs, as the automaker is also focusing on hybrid vehicles and synthetic fuel-powered vehicles. The company is exploring a variety of power sources such as cow-dung-derived biogas, compressed natural gas (CNGs), and ethanol-mixed fuels. The company's focus on hybrid and synthetic fuel-powered vehicles is a testament to its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainable transportation solutions.
