Toyota CBU Car Prices Increase February 2023

Indus Motor Company (IMC) has increased the prices of its Completely Built-up Units (CBUs) today, following the hike in prices of its locally assembled unit. According to the company, the new prices will be applicable to all new orders booked on or after February 14, 2023, and also on all orders in the system as of February 13, 2023. In a notification, IMC stated that the recent devaluation of the Pakistani rupee due to global inflation and national turmoil has made it challenging for the company to maintain its current prices.

Locally Assembled Toyota Car Prices Increased

Toyota has increased its car prices for the third time in the past 30 days as of February 14th. The company has stated that the indicative prices are provisional and subject to change. IMC has attributed the main reason for this third price hike to the devaluation of PKR against the US dollar.

Interestingly, the consequences of this episode are not limited to price hikes alone, but also affect car sales. According to a PAMA report, car sales have dropped by 65%. The new series of price hikes is likely to exacerbate the already declining sales figures.
