Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid Launching in Pakistan 2023

During a recent financial briefing, Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC) reported on their financial performance and the progress of their Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) plant development.

Financial update

Toyota announced that in Q2FY2023, they posted a profit of Rs. 1,331 million, which is a 72% decrease compared to the same period last year. They also noted that sales decreased by 52% in Q2FY2023 compared to the same period last year. Toyota attributed the decline to the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) restrictions on the import of completely knocked-down (CKD) kits.

HEV Plant Development Update

Despite the decline in profit and sales, Toyota confirmed that their HEV assembly plant development is progressing according to the original plan. They expressed confidence that the Corolla Cross, their new hybrid electric vehicle, will debut this year as planned.

In December, a reliable source told ProPakistani that major structural and mechanical developments on the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid were complete, and the company was now working on the car’s fit and finish. The source added that Toyota had started working on the car’s nameplates, badges, and fitments, and was aiming to launch the Corolla Cross in H1 2023. Although Toyota has yet to officially confirm this claim.
