. Why does my bike produce black smoke from the exhaust? Detail:

My CD 70 is producing black smoke and feels like it’s burning more fuel than before. The carburetor was cleaned, but no improvement. Could a clogged air filter be the reason for this issue?

Black smoke usually means your bike is running rich — too much fuel, not enough air. One of the most common reasons is a choked air filter.

Other possible reasons:

Incorrect carburetor tuning

Weak spark plug

Poor-quality fuel

But the air filter is the first thing to check. If it’s dirty o r soaked in oil/dust, replace it. In areas with a lot of dust like industrial zones o r village roads, air filters get blocked very quickly. Riding with a choked filter not only causes smoke, but also reduces power and hurts engine performance.
