. Why does my Hyundai Oshan X7 only make a clicking sound when I turn the key, but the engine doesn’t crank?

When I try to start the car, I hear a clicking o r ticking noise, but the engine doesnt turn over. The battery is fine. Could this be a sign that the starter motor o r solenoid has failed?

If you hear clicking o r ticking, but the engine doesnt turn over, its often a starter motor o r solenoid issue. Here’s what could be happening:

The starter solenoid clicks but fails to engage the flywheel.

Corroded o r loose battery terminals o r cables can cause a weak connection.

The starter motor itself may be burned out o r jammed.

Weak ground connection — common in dusty o r rust-prone Pakistani conditions.

What to do:

Check and tighten all battery cables, including the ground wire.

Try tapping the starter lightly with a wrench while turning the key — if it starts, the starter motor is sticking and may need replacement.
