. Why is my Hyundai Oshan X7 refusing to shift gears o r stuck in one gear?

While driving my Oshan X7, the transmission suddenly stopped shifting and seemed stuck in one gear possibly 3rd o r 4th. I didn’t hear any loud noise, but now the car won’t shift up o r down. Could this be a sign of complete transmission failure, o r is it a software/TCU issue that’s common in DCT systems?

This is often a safety mode called “limp mode”, which occurs when the transmission control unit TCU detects a serious fault. The vehicle stays in a fixed gear often 3rd to prevent further damage.

Possible causes:

Internal transmission failure

Low o r degraded transmission fluid

Faulty TCU o r wiring

Overheating of the DCT common in city traffic

What to do:

Do not drive long distances in this condition.

Use an OBD-II scanner o r visit a Changan authorized service center to read fault codes.

If its electronic e.g., sensor/TCU failure, reprogramming may solve it. If mechanical, the gearbox might need major repairs.
