16 valves with SOHC ! How its possible?

Well here s something i am confused abt.
How can an engine with 16 valve (4 valves/cyl) can run on single cam. Well i know it there in Baleno and there must be other engines out there like that as well. To me its only possible all the four valves are inline with each other which is not the case i guess. So some learned ppl out there?

My experience with SOHC 24 valve was with HOnda Accord 3.0 (3.0 ltr, 24 valve, 6 cyl). I think instead of cam lobe arrangement the valves and cam shaft are connected through rocker arms. The valves were definately not in line. However being a VTEC engine , it had a complicated arrangement in the area, but it was SOHC with 4 valves per cylender. The maintenance manual had something mentioning about rocker arm gaps, but I dont remeber now. Now I have DOHC 24 valve V6 Cherokee, which is more conventional.
