A Problem Here, Corolla Diesel

I have Corrolla 2.0d 2003, its been very recent in the past couple of days, that when i turn on th eignition switch it, like coughs 5 to 6 times, for say, and then starts. I didnt have thise problem before.

Again on the issue of Flash Lights, the lights wont flash whne i pull the indicatior stick, but when the dim lights are on then the High Beam works, other than that it doesnt work. Hope i explained the problems well.

Diesel engine has no issues of tunings like petrol operated vehicles.People mostly refer to it as MAINTAINANCE FREE ENGINE.Petrol engine feul average decreases as it is being used due to increase in Spark plug gaps,Disturbance in CO mixture due to bad petrol,Disturbance `Tapid` Settings(Non Cam Type Petrol engines).These issues are not valid for diesel engines.

Diesel Regular Maintainance Schedule:-
1-First Oil Change At 1000km
2-Periodic Oil Change at 3000km
3-Replace Oil Filter after 6000km(With Every Second Periodic Oil Change)
4-Repalce Air Filter at 10000km(Clean it Weekly)
5-Replace Diesel Filter At 12000-15000km
6-Replace Timing Belt at 90000km

For your present Issue.Follow Step By Step To Catch The Problem with Starting:-
1.Check Battery
2.Check Engine Glow Plug/Heaters
3.Check Diesel Filter for Clogging/Mild Water Residue
4.Check and Clean Engine Atomizers

For Electrical Problem:-
1.Check All Fuses And Wiring for Short Circuits
2.Check the Light/Indicator Switch/Stick for damage due to prolong use.
