AC Thermostat Question

Is it ok to run the ac on higher thermostat, i mean to keep the thermostat somewhere in between middle of the guage (round about blue or red line). does'nt it harm the ac performance of the car?

As far as my little knowledge and experience with my own cars' aircons, temperature control (heater) is disabled once you turn on the air conditioner. Unless you have an auto aircon, where you set the temperature.
