Acetone improves mileage?

Acetone improves mileage?

I came across this video on youtube about improving fuel mileage.

There was the regular stuff we all know like checking tyre pressure etc but in the end the guy mentioned pouring some pure acetone into the fuel tank. In his case 2oz to 10gallons of petrol.

According to him just that doubled the mileage.

Btw it wasn't a commercial or anything, a regular video.

I know acetone is an ingredient in paint thinner but do you get it in its pure form?

What do the experts say?

Seriously I will not try this stuff. When it deals with the car's engine, and specially when you see some idiot post it on Youtube, how can you trust that person.

If it was true, then most people would have known it already. There are many products in the market in US, that claim to improve gas/petrol efficiency, by cleaning the fuel system. Mainly those are Jet fuel based additives and putting too much can ruin your engine. I tried those additives by adding those to the full tank of gasoline/petrol, and instead of increasing the efficiency my car started giving worst mileage than before.

I would advise you to stay away from such experiementations, specially when you see such stuff on YOUTUBE. If it was an authentic Petrolium Company advertising it, then you can have peace of mind, but not from YOUTUBE, where mostly crazy teens put crazy stuff.

If you are serious about saving money on fuel then, converting your car to CNG would be much safer, wiser and economic than putting acetone in your car's fuel system and risking ruining the engine of your car. Then who can you blame..... The guy on the Youtube, he will say I was just Joking around....

Millions are using CNG, vs. a hoax on the Youtube with acetone.
