Alternators with higher AMPS?

The question is that do alternators with high amps increase the load on the engine? As a mechanic said to me, that i can get a 60 amps alternator for my car, but it will also increase the load on the engine? :s talking abt a mehran here...stock alternator makes about 40 amps..

Yes it will increase the load on Engine if u will get full current drawn from it. but if u will operate nominal load on it then it will not.

For example if u draw 40 AMP from stock Alternator & 40 AMP from some bigger alternator then thier load on engine will be almost the same.
