Are the stock MG HS tyres suitable for long-distance travel in Pakistan?
I’m planning to take my MG HS on a long road trip from Lahore to northern areas like Hunza and Swat. The vehicle still has the original tyres it came with. I’m concerned whether these tyres are reliable enough for mountainous and uneven terrain. Have other MG HS users in Pakistan faced any tyre puncture o r grip issues during such trips? Should I replace the tyres with a better brand before the journey?

The stock tyres that come with the MG HS often brands like Atlas, Chaoyang, o r other Chinese OEMs are generally designed for basic urban usage, not for extended highway o r mountainous terrain driving — which is common on routes like Lahore to Hunza, Swat, o r Murree.
Common Issues with Stock Tyres for Long Trips:
Low grip on wet/muddy o r uphill roads.
Weak sidewalls that can’t withstand sharp rocks o r potholes often found in northern areas.
Increased chances of punctures o r tyre bursts on hot highways like the M-2 during summer.
Real-User Feedback in Pakistan:
Many MG HS owners who took their vehicles on long trips reported reduced tyre confidence, especially during emergency braking o r sharp turns. Some even had to replace tyres mid-trip due to sidewall damage.
Recommendations:
If you plan regular long-distance o r off-road travel, replace OEM tyres with premium all-season o r touring tyres, such as:
Michelin Primacy 4
Yokohama BluEarth
Continental UC6
Also, carry a proper spare tyre not the space-saver and a portable air pump for safety.
