Auto engineers help me

Dear all experts,
My ralitive was driving new City. He turned it left suddenly due to some reason and its rack part near from adjustment nut was broken. He wants to have a claim of material failure.
Can any one explain
1- what type of material is used at that part.
2- what type of failure is this ie fatigue, residuel stress, or material lower toughness and higher hardeness.
3- any other reason

All experts are requested to share knowledge

another finget pointed towards Atlas Honda Quality Issue.....
Honda ppl be careful...u need to get over on that or honda will be out of market.......nowdays listening many quality related issues..........
A Vti's are sounding like its 10 years old cars...........Compressor Bearing,Alignment,Low Quality Material used inside interior,power window faults...and lots of other small things........
by the way...i listen that CIty's Steering is controlled Electronically...is that true.....?
