Can 2x4 be converted into 4x4

My bank has recently procured a thailand assembled Toyota Hilux D4D, 2x4 Model 2006. I have been assigned to convert it to 4x4. I today phoned Toyota Islamabad who said they don't have the equipment. I asked my mechanic and he said it is possible, the gear box assembly would be changed.

Now I need advise from experts over this and how to go about it. Secondly, if I sell this vehicle for around 2 million, will i get a 4x4 latest model in that price range.

its not impossible but its useless to spend time and money since its a lot of work.

i am wondering why a bank would do this. dont take it personally...but the person who ordered to have this done must be nuts because there is no viable reason for this expenditure since its all public money (a foreign bank will likely wont do this in Pakistan)
