Can any one teach me abt torque & bhp ??? PLZ

brothers, i would appreciate if one can teach me what actually torque and hosepower means? does torque mean intial pick up response ? and how do we read or compare its reading...

like i was doing some research , so i found this equation..

OPTRA CIVIC COROLLA 1.5X
hospow bhp@rpm 107/5800 140/6300 110/6000
torque n-m/rpm 150/4000 128/4300 141/4400

now my question are :
which car would be best on intial kick off(pick)?
which car would be more fuel ecnomical
which car will have more speed on let say highway???

i may sound stupid, but i would be expecting my bros to teach me ...

and yea :
which car would u prefer in term of :
intial kick off?
fuel econo?

Hello!
you can search on Forums...this topic is discusses many times....!
you can read that whole in order to understand what HP and Torque is...
in simple words....
HP is like HOW FAST YOU PUNCH
Torque is like HOW HARD YOU PUNCH..
so thats the basic difference...HP was like how fast the car can run......Torque was like how better can can bear load....so thats the particular point where engine puts it max HP and Torque....!
so from that you consider that a car with much HP can go faster....!
and a car with good torque on low RPM have better milage!
