Can ignoring minor transmission fluid leaks lead to complete gearbox failure in the Oshan X7?

Can ignoring minor transmission fluid leaks lead to complete gearbox failure in the Oshan X7?

A few weeks ago, I saw a small fluid spot under my car but ignored it. Now, my X7’s transmission is behaving erratically, and there’s a burning smell after longer drives. Can even small leaks cause a DCT to fail entirely if left untreated? How fast can such damage happen under Pakistani conditions?

Absolutely. A DCT relies on precise fluid pressure and lubrication. Even small leaks can lead to:

Low fluid pressure → clutch slipping → overheating

Loss of lubrication → internal wear

ECU/TCU malfunctions if exposed to fluid

In Pakistan’s hot climate, fluid leaks can worsen faster due to expansion and heat stress. Damage can progress within a few hundred kilometers if driven aggressively o r in traffic.

Advice:

If you’ve noticed fluid spots, inspect immediately.

Avoid delaying service—DCT replacement is costly ~Rs. 400,000+ in some cases.

Use only OEM-recommended DCT fluid.
