Car heating up only on motorway

Car heating up only on motorway

Hi guys,

I had my cars gasket replaced a month back. It's been running fine since but i went on the motorway the other day & the car started to heat up. I had to put water in the radiator twice on the way to islamabad from peshawar. The car doesn't heat up in normal city driving or reduce water in the radiator.

I went to a mechanic today & he told me the head & engine block would need to be faced. He said he'll charge 2000 for labour & the kharadia would charge 600 rupees for facing the head & block. On top of that i'll have to pay for a new gasket.

So what do you guys think? Is the the problem & is the mechanic asking for fair labour charges? Thanks for the help.

Are you sure that the radiator doesnt have a leak?

Though, the gasket could've blown due to immense heat up -

Gasket is cheap no need to worry about that but the process is tiring to replace the gasket hence, the labor charges! I've just got my Khyber repaired after having similar problem initially which grown alot to the extent that my head got a leak, and gasket blown, water rushed into the block and mixed with oil, it costed me around 15k to fix that, and in those 15k I just changed rings, didnt faced and bored out the block. Fix it today then sooner!
