Car Silencer....

Car Silencer....

as there are two boxes in a silencer of a car.one is in the middle and the other on is at the end.one of my friend told me that if we remove the middle box then the car will start a sweat sound and other then that it will increase some points in horse power.

so my question is that is this statement correct and will it increase the consumption of car.....

The middle part is called a resonator. The resonator, by working with the muffler, reduces the sound. When you remove the resonator, it would definitely increase the sound and make it more "sporty"

When the question of horsepower comes, the resonator does not increase OR DECREASE the horsepower; it is purely there for sound purposes. It can be replaced with a pipe to increase the sound- but nothing else.
