Manufacturing defect found in Ford Mondeo
Staff Report
Published: June 24, 2007, 00:24
Dubai: The police have urged Ford Mondeo owners to have their cars checked at the dealership immediately to repair a manufacturing defect in cars built between 2002 and 2006.
There are reportedly 2,751 cars of this model in the UAE and 14,000 cars in the Gulf region, the police said.
The Police Forensic Sciences and Crime Science Department found that some of the two litre engine vehicles caught fire due to a fault in the dynamo.
The technical report revealed that the fault puts pressure on the electric cables of the car's battery. This leads to the increase in the temperature of those cables and melting of the cables, it said.
Ford announced that it would make the necessary repairs to this model. The police contacted the local dealers of the vehicle and they showed a positive response to the issue, the police said.
Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police, praised the cooperation of the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (ESMA) and Standardisation Organisation for the GCC (GSO) and thanked Colonel Ahmad Bin Hammad, director of the Forensic Department and fire experts on their efforts in revealing the manufacturing defect.

Why do u say its bakwaas ??????????
I've been living in this country all my life and i know how the police cares.....i can give u one small example which i experienced.
It was during the early 80's, the days when the UAE roads dint have effective drainage and the cars used to get stuck in the water during rainy season I remember my dads Nissan Datsun 280C got stuck in the water, simply refused to start.. and the water was quite high as well.... the policemen dint let us out and in fact within minutes came to the rescue three policemen pushed our car out of the water and then my dad got out and sprayed WD-40 wherever it was needed and started the car BUT they dint let us get wet or dirty and did the job instead. THIS IS WHAT U CALL CARE not buckwaas like our policemen who r always looking for a reason to take a bribe.
