CNG: Does thin Air Filter hurts Engine?

CNG: Does thin Air Filter hurts Engine?

I have recently had my first experience with CNG - when I got my Steermatic converted on CNG. I got everything installed - Advancers, Emmulators, Lamda Control - everthing. I went to the shop where they were "doing" almost three to four cars (mostly Hondas and Toyotas) every three hours. They claimed to have biggest setup in Islamabad.

Now, I leave my experience during installation - to another sitting. But I am sittng with on predicament - and that is that after ever two to three days the car stops running on CNG - there is lot of viberation and no response when try to start on Peterol-CNG (Auto).

As a result I visited the workshop many times (four times in four weeks). Sometimes - they cleaned the filter and that was it and sometimes they changed the "Mixer" and it worked - But everytime - the problem re-appeared.

Today they did lot of reworking and told me that they will have to get "very thin" air filter for my car and until then I should run it without air filer...........

I need help from - all the experts out there - is it safe to run car without airfilter? how it affects engine? Is a thin filter required to run CNG? how will affect engine life in the long run?

I am really upset and worried - need help

first of all put your air filter back, even if u have to run your car on petrol but without air filter u will be spoiling the engine of your new car. there might be something wrong with the equipment they have installed (advancer or emulator) and they are not pointing out the problem since they will have to replace it. get it checked at some other good workshop.
always go for the genuine air filter rather than any thin paper airfilter, u might have to clean air filter more frequently also u will have to replace it early, may be at 6000-7000 km but always go for genuine airfilter available at honda service center.
