Cofused...big time

Recently, a cosuin of mine had a crack in his radiator of his 1992 Camry. So he brought it over to my dad to fix it with a new radiator. I was helping out my dad and i noticed that there was a pipe which was going to the radiator which said "Transmissoin Fluid." I did check the pipe inside and indeed it was transmission fluid. My question is why does the fluid goes to the raditaor. This is something new i have seen.

Its generally seen in auto transmission because in this case the oil gets exceptionally hot due to the ways its cluch works. same is the reason that auto trannys have poor fuel consumption compared to manual ones. (energy being wasted in heat form)
