Could a faulty oxygen sensor o r clogged catalytic converter in my Tiggo 4 be raising exhaust emissions — and how to detect it?

In many cars including ones similar to Tiggo 4 a malfunctioning oxygen O₂ sensor can disturb the air‑fuel mixture, leading to richer or improper combustion — which increases emissions.

Similarly, a clogged o r failing catalytic converter can fail to clean exhaust gases properly, resulting in increased pollutants CO, hydrocarbons, NOₓ and possibly symptoms like black smoke, reduced performance o r “rotten‑egg” smell.

Oxygen sensor failure can cause the engine to run too rich too much fuel o r too lean too little fuel, increasing pollutants like CO, hydrocarbons, and NOx.

Clogged catalytic converter prevents proper conversion of harmful gases into less harmful ones, which can result in black smoke, unusual exhaust smells, reduced engine performance, and poor fuel efficiency.

Regular inspection of sensors and the catalytic converter is important to keep emissions within safe limits.
