Differnce between 4 cylinder & 6 cylinder
Differnce between 4 cylinder & 6 cylinder
yaar my brother is going to buy a car.
but he choose car with 6 Cylinder V6 but mechanic told him not to go for 6 cylinder, go for same car with 4 cylinder
he told problems are:
1. 6 cylinder will consume more petrol than 4 (most important)
2. spare parts of 6 are costly than 4 cyl.
3. every mechanic can repair 4 cylinder but not everyone can handle 6 cylinder because it has more complicated features & difficult to solve
4. availability of 6 cyl. are rare than 4 cyl.
please advise me more so that i can tell to my big b

1. the main reason a 6 consumes more fuel than a 4 is because usually it is of a larger capacity (engine size). usually you'd find that the linit (in most cases) for a 4 cylinder are 2.5Litres and that is usually where V6's start.
2. 6's are larger engines so parts usually have to be stronger and since most cars in this side of the world are 4cyls parts for them are more common (hence they are cheaper)
3. usually 4's are basic in design as they are generally designed for economy and simplicity, whereas 6's aredesigned for more power and therefore involve slightly more complicated internals & externals. however i must point out that most modern 6's are NOT that much more complicated than modern 4's
4. the 2 most common engines in the world are inline 4's and V8's (which are pretty much like 2 4's joined together). 6's, 10's and 12's are less common.
