Does Changan Karvaan Have Alternator Charging Issues?

I noticed the battery light flickering occasionally while driving, and after testing, my mechanic said the alternator wasn’t charging the battery properly. This led to a dead battery situation during a trip.
Are alternator faults common in the Changan Karvaan, o r was this a one-off case? How can one identify this issue early?

It’s not very common, but it does happen.

Signs:

Battery warning light flickers

Headlights dim when idling

Accessories shut off unexpectedly

Solution:

Get the alternator output voltage tested. It should be between 13.5V–14.2V when the engine is running.

Inspect alternator belt tension and condition.
