Does heater of car consume addional fuel

Guys i wana know when in winter we use heater in car does it use extra fuel i mean special instrument inside engine turns on or it is passive process of simply redirecting heat from engine to inside ... i mean if we have heater running in car will it consume same amount of fuel or more ?

No extra fuel is consumed, or if you want to be bitchy, you can say 0.000000001% is used extra because of the negligible load that the alternator puts on the engine. In the real world, unless you are going to revolve around the earth atleast 3 times, there will be no difference at all.
