Dot 3 and dot 12 brake fluids

What is the difference between the different brake fluids available.. The dot3 and dot12 brake fluids are manufactured for which category? and if i have a 1000cc passenger car like alto/ cultus, which fluid should i use?

Hello!
1st i wanna clear that there nothing brake fluid type like dot 12.....there exist Dot 3, Dot 4 and Dot 5 types of brake Fluids.......Dot 3 is mostly used among all of them....
1nd thing u asked about the difference b/w them.
so dot 3 was cheaper in all...the main difference from which they are cateegorized as 3 4 5 is that

Dot 3 absorbs moisture faster as compared to 4 and 5.....and got low boiling point

Dot 4 is bit expensive and absorbs moister slower and got high boiling point

Dot 5 is the most expensive and it does'nt absorb any moisture at all and got highest Boiling Point among all......

Dot 3 and Dot 4 are almost same alike amber in color but Dot 5 differs and got purple Color...

once u can used dot 4 instead of Dot 3.......Dot 5 is used in heavy trucks and cars mostly not equipped with ABS......but always use the category which is specified by company....Dot 3 is what mostly used....
