Driving in Hilly Areas

Drive in lower gear while coming down slope is a common advice so that car's speed will be in control and one can avoid excessive use of brakes. But i need to ask one question from experts, what to do while driving automatic car, like Vitz which have no option of taking the car in lower gear while coming down slope.
Please reply your view point with some technical information.

just a random question guys.. does ur A/T (vitz / oriel) climb the hill (muree / pirsohawa) easily? has any1 ever tried climbing with CNG on A/T?? results??

abt driving down the hill in lower gears.. i'm not sure but isnt there any gear like L2? or R2? in A/T vechs?? which doesnt let the car go above 2nd or 3rd gear for HILLS? use same gear for comming downwards..
