EFi Engine without system card?????????????

I went to sher shah today to buy a new gear box for my car.............there i found an engine similar to my car's engine- but the difference was that mine is cabeurator one and that one in market was EFi..........the shop keeper said that the engine doesnt need a system card and the plug wires are simply connected to the distributor...

Was the shop keeper right or was he just saying this due to lack of knowledge?

( The engine in market was like the engine of Baleno 1.6 GTi )

i think the shopkeeper may have been right. The EFI system runs off of a certain programming. With a carburetor, there's no fancy gizmo. It's just a open and close valve procedure. No programming required.
